I've decided to make a video on the way a Tombow Pen can be used. So no photos today, sorry. So bear with me, please.........LOL
Quiet day for me other than searching YouTube for videos on how to use a Tombow pen that led me to all kinds of other videos showing all kinds of cool techniques but none that were WOW for using a Tombow pen, so that has inspired me to make a few videos. The first will be the Tombow pen and it's many glorious uses. The video will be posted within the week as I am new at making a video and even newer at how to edit one. The other videos will be on a variety of topics, such as:
-texture in watercolor and acrylics
-how to paint an abstract
-multimedia
-daily painting
-palette knife painting
And whatever else I think we'd all like to know just a little bit more about.
Here's a giraffe I did about 12 years ago. He's sold. I miss this guy..................LOL

DAY SIX
Yup...I missed yesterday because it was time for me to turn 52! I am pretty unsure how getting old and get creative are intertwined BUT they seem to be ((or so I tell myself))
Enough about me for a minute....let's talk about watercolor for while. That and tombow pens. Does anyone even know what a tombow pen is and what it can do?? I often start a painting with a tombow pen. No pencil. Just straight in with ink. The trick? It's so easy to remove a misplaced line. I think it's much easier than trying to erase a pencil mark. A tombow pen is NOT waterproof and for me that is the treat, the delight, the extra special WOW of this tool. A little bit of bleeding of the ink is always fun, especially when you have to deal with watercolor and how it just has a mind of it's own (as well)
I created 2 still life paintings today for the online Facebook group that does only challenges. Still life is almost over. It was a 10 day challenge. The painting below is actually tomorrow's still life. Today's is just not cooperating for it's photo shoot!
And this is a great example of the way I use a tombow pen. This was drawn with a pencil first - not what I usually do, and then I used the tombow over top. The edge around the blue surface was heavily tombowed with the brush end of the pen. That's another great thing about these pens, they have a brush end and a fine point end. Tomorrow I'll show photos and examples of the way I use a tombow.
Goodnight fans.....LMAO - like anyone is reading this!!!

DAY FIVE
I love watercolor. And I like to paint with it. I love the way it has a mind of it's own, it reminds me of ME.
I am not afraid of watercolor. And it's definitely not afraid of me. Creative accidents are what can be accomplished when there is NO fear.
~~~~Traaa laaaa laaaa laaaa laaaa~~~~
So without further adieu - here's a couple more watercolor paintings that I did today.
Egg Warming Chicken Coozy
Garlic & Egg Timer
It's staring to feel a lot like EASTER!!!
DAY FOUR
I managed 2 more paintings for the 10 day STILL LIFE challenge ((as seen on Facebook as a public group called Painting Challenges - 10, 20 & 30 days.)) And this is what I've learned. I can paint amazing garlic cloves, IMO, not bad daffodils, meh, and pretty good red onions, so says me.
I wonder tho, if I took less time on the daffs would they look better? I mean, I whipped those garlic cloves off in less than 30 seconds but those daffodils? I labored over them just like I did on the little moonshine bottle. Both? Not so good.....ah well.............so
Time.
It steals.
It makes me wonder.
Do I have to spend less?
Or more?
Time.
LMAO - I am so not a poet! Or a Haiku-ist!
My offerings for today:
DAY THREE
Avocado Still Life
It's day 2 of the 10 Day Painting Challenge.
I love and adore avocados and yet this is the first time I've ever painted them. Probably because I eat them so fast I never have any subject matter! ((yummy))
I really enjoyed painting this today. I am especially happy with how the table runner turned out. I used the wooden end of a paint brush to make the lines while the paint was still wet. For a change I mixed my paint on my palette instead of on the paper for the avocado insides. For the rest of the painting I mixed colors on the paper.
This is available for purchase on my website; www.valri-ary.com
You can also find me on Daily Paintworks as Valri Alexander Ary
DAY TWO
I have a painting group on Facebook called "Painting Challenges - 10, 20 and 30 days long"
It's a public group that anyone can join.
We, as in about 25 fellow artists, just completed a 20 day challenge to paint a bird once a day for 20 days. I am sick to death of birds. We did this just after we all completed a 30 day of cats on Wet Canvas. So 50 days later we are onto painting STILL LIFEs for 10 days.
Can you see a pattern here? LOL
Day ONE
I have started sooooooooooooo many blogs over the years and I have yet to continue past this point. (And every blog I've started has had a very similar opening line!) SO, here and today, tonight actually, I will promise myself that this art blog will prevail. I will be diligent to post daily (or at least every other day) I will include fun art related tidbits and hopefully someone will actually read this!
Pinky swear with myself is complete - let the art blog begin! Day one is over - get to bed now, folks!
